Dear members,

As we will now have another single seater for most of the season, (bringing the total number to three) we have decided to establish a decentralised club competition. Solo flights in a two seater are also eligible. Pilots can choose their own task and enter it into one of the categories below. Ingo can recommend the best task to try for the day (taking into account the weather and the wind direction) and we have a list of tasks and turn points for you to choose from.

  • 100km out and return
  • 100km triangle
  • 200km out and return
  • 200km triangle
  • 300km out and return
  • 300km triangle
  • 500km out and return
  • 500km triangle

They can be recorded on a flarm or any GPS recording device and either downloaded at the hangar onto the club's computer or emailed to the contest director, Judy Renner. All flights must be made from Tocumwal and gliders and pilots will be handicapped. The handicaps used will be the same as those used in Speed Week as this seemed to work well. Winners will be awarded trophies at our next Wings Night scheduled for winter 2014. Only club members are eligible.

So good luck to everyone and we look forward to seeing you soon in sunny Tocumwal.

Happy soaring

Judy and Ingo Renner

Tocumwal

During the Second World War the town was the site of Royal Australian Air Force Station Tocumwal, which was a major Royal Australian Air Force training airfield and aircraft depot. Today, the airfield has grown to be a renowned gliding site.
