ASW15B – GES owned by Hans Dieter Albreicht

The ASW15B was designed 1976 and is a standard class glider with a 15m wingspan and no flaps.

Empty weight:  230kg

All up weight:  408kg

Max glide ratio:  1:37

Min sink ratio:  0.7m/s

Production numbers:  453

In 1972 Karl Striedeck flew a distance out and return World Record of 1098km in an ASW15.

 

is28IS-28B2 – IUH owned by Mike Toth

The IS-28B2 was designed in 1973 and is an all metal (aluminium) two seater.

Wing span:  17.01m

Empty weight:  375kg

All up weight:  590kg

Max glide ratio:  1:34

Min sink rate:  0.8m/s

Production numbers:  well over 300

Thirty IS-28B2 gliders were exported to Australia and proved to be a robust training two seater for ab-initio training, aerobatics and cross-country practice.

Tocumwal

During the Second World War the town was the site of Royal Australian Air Force Station Tocumwal, which was a major Royal Australian Air Force training airfield and aircraft depot. Today, the airfield has grown to be a renowned gliding site .
