Cross Country Practice Weekend

The club is planning  it's first Cross Country Practice Weekend in November. The aim of this practice weekend is, to assist all levels of cross country pilots to improve their cross country skills.

During the practice weekend, we will analyse the weather very thoroughly in daily weather briefing sessions in the morning and then decide based on weather, glider and pilots which cross country task to declare. These could be out and return task or the more difficult FAI triangle task - but always of a manageable distance. The briefings will also cover topics like pilot and glider preparation, safe flying in gaggles, radio discipline, outlandings and retrieves. The actual flying of the day will be done in one or more small groups to complete the task. The instructors  will be also flying in these groups - either in a double or single seater. There will be a de-briefing held after each days flying to reflect on the flying of the day and identify the highlights but also the mistakes which were made during the flight in order to prevent them next time.
